Join our sponsored walk on HS2 route

A sponsored walk along the Misbourne Valley “preferred” route of High Speed 2 is being held on 11 September to raise money for the Chiltern Society’s fighting fund opposing HS2 crossing the Chilterns.

It is being organised by Society member Jim Rodda and begins at Amersham Station at 10am. The walkers will then travel to Great Missenden Station – a distance of seven or eight miles.

The walk keeps close to the proposed HS2 route, mainly on rights of way and sometimes, by prior agreement, on private land.

A number of volunteers have kindly agreed to marshal the walk as it crosses three main roads.

Jim says: “Only by walking the route can you truly appreciate the utter devastation HS2 would bring, and realise not only the horrendous visual impact it will have but how the noise from these enormous trains would carry over the valley.”

The Society’s fighting fund is to help pay for expertise in presenting its evidence-based case to the Government as part of the HS2 consultation and to help fund a promotional campaign supporting our case.

If you would like to enter the walk, you can download the sponsor form here (following this link will open a 90KB PDF in a new window).
