New HS2 alignment from Colne Valley Park to Wendover

With the Route for Consultation announced on 20 December 2010, HS2 Ltd provided a series of maps of the route.

This document gives you a brief resumé of the major changes made in the Chilterns between the Colne Valley Park and Wendover.

  • References to 38+000 or similar refer to the distance measurements on the bottom of the maps

  • Links to the Maps are attached at the bottom of the page. To compare to the previous maps their reference for 04005 is 03105

Map 04005

  1. Footpath underbridge eliminated, just past Tilehouse Lane overbridge

  2. M25 Portal increased from 350m to 480m

  3. Tunnel bore increased from 8.5m to 8.7m

  4. Tunnel entrance at 59.5m cf 60.5m, increasing depth of cutting by 1m

  5. Tunnel after M25 moved slightly north running under Tubbs Cottages

Map 04006

  1. Access Shaft at Skipping’s Farm not on map any longer

  2. Access Shaft and Access Road near Vache Lane CSG no longer shown.

  3. Line now back on original line

  4. Access Shaft at Bow Wood Barn no longer shown

  5. At 38+400 tunnel is 5m deeper than previously

Map 04007

  1. Access Shaft by Amersham Bypass no longer shown

  2. Tunnel Portal at Mantles Green Farm same, but tunnel portal is 5m deeper

  3. New 150m Green Bridge close to A413 opposite Shardeloes, enables two footpaths to be reconnected

  4. Little Missenden / Hyde Heath Tunnel length increased from 1050m to 1260m. Jacked box no longer mentioned

  5. At 44+650 Tunnel portal is 10m lower. Thus the gradient has been reduced slightly over the length of the tunnel

Map 04008

  1. Hyde Lane cutting is now 10m deeper with bridge clearance at 17m instead of 10m. Bridge will follow contour of land. Permanent Land requirement not shown.

  2. New 900m Green Tunnel from before Chesham Road to past Frith Hill. Track is 10m deeper than original. 1 Path can be restored.

  3. Track continues in deep cutting with track bridge (Permanent Land Requirement not shown) and Leather Lane Bridge now following ground contour.

  4. Track still goes through Grym’s Ditch, but cutting now 15m deep instead of 10m deep

  5. At 50+575 to 51+050, 450m Viaduct is approx 2m lower, but at 51+200 is approx 1m higher

  6. Permanent Land Requirement at Durham Farm not shown

Map 04009

  1. Permanent Land Requirement at Road Barn Farm not shown

  2. Permanent Land requirement not shown

  3. Past Wendover there is little obvious change
