Visiting the Beds

Ewelme Watercress Beds & Local Nature Reserve stretches through the entire village, alongside Benson Road and High Street.

The visitor centre has information about the wildlife, history and restoration of the site, with displays of photographs, historic tools and an audio-visual presentation about the watercress industry in the 1960s. Teas are available. Chiltern Society members get free entry with a valid membership card.

Opening times and entry charges

Some areas of the nature reserve are public and therefore open all year round, free of charge – see map for details.

May to September: 2pm-5pm on the first Sunday of each. Explore the beds and nature reserve and see the displays in the visitor centre. £3 per adult. Accompanied children: free.

October to April: 10.30am on the first Sunday of each. Guided tour of the beds, nature reserve and displays in the visitor centre. £3 per adult. Accompanied children: free.
