Legacy giving to the Chiltern Society

Since 1965, the Chiltern Society has made a significant contribution to the quality of life as we know it today in the Chilterns. As the pressures of urbanisation increase, it will be even more important and difficult to maintain this area of natural beauty. Your legacy can ensure that we have the resources to continue to preserve and protect the special environment of the Chilterns for future generations to come.

Legacies provide us with essential funds that we need to make long-term plans, particularly to acquire property which enhances or preserves natural beauty of the Chilterns.

Your legacy can help ensure the Society can continue to:
• protect woodland and hedgerows under threat
• maintain footpaths and bridleways
• oppose unsuitable new development
• care for historic buildings
• maintain and monitor natural waterways and streams
• encourage others to appreciate the Chilterns

Unless otherwise stipulated, legacies will provide and build endowment funds to fund our most important countryside programmes and projects in perpetuity.

How you can help the Chiltern Society through your Will
Your legacy can be in the form of money, financial assets such as shares, or in property and valuables.Once your personal wishes and commitments have been fulfilled, the most welcome bequest to the Society would provide unrestricted funds to be applied where they are needed most. If you would like to leave a specific bequest, your wishes will be honoured. All legacy gifts to the Society are free from Inheritance Tax and Capital Gains Tax and as such could be of benefit to the remainder of your estate.

The Bluebell Guild has been established to recognise those individuals who indicate their intention to help the Chiltern Society in this way. The Bluebell Guild makes it possible to thank like-minded individuals in their lifetime for their foresight and generosity. Whilst its membership will remain confidential, members will receive regular communications. Members will also be invited to a special annual event.

Next steps
We understand that decisions such as this are personal and that when making your Will, first and foremost, the interest of your dependants must be considered. However we hope it will be possible for you to consider including the Chiltern Society in your Will. We suggest you contact your solicitor in order to either make or change your Will. If you already have a Will, you can simply add a codicil to include the Society. Your support is greatly appreciated.

Thank you for caring about the Chilterns now and always.
