Walking

We are all encouraged to take more exercise; walking, with its relatively low impact on one's body, is a simple and free way of doing so. We organise a full programme of walks throughout the year, which is designed to improve both physical and mental health, as well as boost community spirit and involvement.

Join us for
• Half day walks, which take place on Sundays and selected days throughout the working week.
• Long half day walks, which take place on the first Sunday of every month.
• Whole day walks, which take place on the second Sunday and second Wednesday of every month.

Occasionally, we also organise special, one-off events, including walks to locations of interest, like manor houses, Lacey Green Windmill, museums, etc., and we regularly organise Christmas and Easter walks with lunch… For full details about our walks programme, including when and where to meet, and the route the walk will take, please navigate to 'News & events' >

Because of the popularity of our walks, there is a constant demand for walks organisers – you only need know your area. Please contact Mrs Pam George on 01525 371947 if you're interested in organising a walk.

You may have noticed a variety of new signs, such as: 'Public Highway', 'Other Routes with Public Access', 'Restricted Byway' and 'Statutory Open Access Land'.

There is quite a lot of open access land in the Chilterns and all the recent Ordnance Survey Explorer maps show this.
