Planning

Welcome to the Chiltern Society Planning Group

The threats to the Chilterns will not go away; the demands for new housing, for commercial developments, for increased leisure activities, are real and require a response.

Our aim is to encourage high standards of town and country planning and architecture, and stimulate public interest in, and care for, the beauty, history and character of the Chiltern Hills.

What we do
• Monitoring and responding to planning proposals in specific parts of the Chilterns
• Acting as respected consultants to Local Authorities regarding Structure and Local Plans
• Examining and responding to draft Government guidance documents and other consultations
• Representing the Society at Public Enquiries and Examinations in Public

There are many issues of concern which are being addressed, varying from small local developments to major infrastructure proposals.

Organisation
The Planning Team consists of Planning Field Officers (PFOs) and Planning Assistants, co-ordinated by regional Convenors. Between them they cover all parishes in the Chilterns area. We also have qualified Advisers covering special topics.

A number of Planning Guidance Statements have been evolved to ensure a common approach to consultations with Government Authorities.

Volunteers
We would be glad to hear from you if you can offer any assistance in planning matters. Please contact the Planning Group Administrator.
